![]() ![]() The Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential is also now subject to a lifetime warranty (subject to terms and conditions). Quaife ATB differentials are used by Ford, General Motors and Daimler-Chrysler as original equipment. With over 370 applications, the Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential is second to none. OEM Left Front Axle Assembly - Several Mk4 1.8T, 1.9 TDI, 2.8L VR6 Automatic Models from 2002-2005. The Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential is proven in circuit and drag racing, rallying and road use, and is produced from Corus steel billets, and is CAD designed and CNC machined, then inspected to ISO 9001 standards. Fits VW Mk4 5 speed manual (bolt in axle flanges): MK4 GTI/Golf/Jetta/Beetle 2.0L/12V VR6/TDI/1.8/1. The Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential has many benefits over a standard open differential, including maximising traction and minimizing wheelspin, eliminating torque steer and snatching in front wheel drive cars compared to conventional LSD units, and a maintenance-free design which retains the standard oil lubrication. Rather, the Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential automatically biases the torque away from the spinning wheel across the axle, to a constantly varying degree, and never locks. The Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential never locks harshly with a set pre-load of wheel slip across the driven axle, like a conventional LSD. That means it is much smoother in operation. Unlike a conventional plate-style limited slip differential, the Quaife Helical LSD ATB differential relies on gears rather than clutch plates for its operation. the Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential transforms your car’s performance. A direct replacement for the standard open differential. I found it best to deal with a VW TDI specialty shop which will save alot of grief.Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential is for the 02J transmission (bolt in flanges). Gee it's too bad they didnt check deep enough which is my point. When I brought them back for exchange, their computer indicated that they were unavailable/ obsolete. When I started my 20Ann brake project, they sold me the wrong brakes, when we went to install them on the back they wouldnt fit cause they were the wrong p/n's. One additional note, your dealing with NAPA which deal with parts which is only as good as their computer programming, thousands of cars etc. VR6 powered cars, such as the Mk4 GTI 24v VR6, GLI 24v VR6, and Mk4 R32, have a 10-bolt crank, while 4-cylinder 1.8t models such as the TT, 337 and 20th Anniversary GTI, and GLI 1.8t. Another symptom I remember when the inner cv joint went was it occured the same rpms you indicated and very noticeable under power but then disappears once you back off the throttle instantly. Volvo Drivetrain and Axle Volvo Engine Volvo Exhaust Volvo Exterior Body Volvo Fuel. If it does then it is not drive train related. Early MK4 looms use a 10 pin plug, later looms use a 14 pin. Have you tried putting the car in neutral or park and revving the engine to where the vibration occurs while driving? If you cant reproduce the vibration in neutral, then the vibration is certainly not engine related. All you really need from the donor MK4 are both halves of the ECU loom, then to make the loom my way you will also need a 10 or 14 pin plug cut out of a donor MK4 so the 2nd half of the ECU loom can simply plug in. Just another thought, you said the vibration is RPM indicative. Outside joints often produce a clicking noise, prevelent in a turn. But seriously check the part numbers, engine number BEW.transmission, auto,5spd auto,6spd auto 5spd man, 6spd.you get the drift. When the drivers side axle went it was the inner joint which was symptomatic of low speed/ Rpm vibration, the inner torn boot was the clue. In retrospect the Cardone axle seemed beefier. When we installed the first axle we had to go back 3 times to get the right axle. Be careful to investigate yourself for the proper part numbers. That said I went to the EMPI catalogue and found that the axle sent was indeed for an automatic but there is another one for 5 speed automatic. I ordered another one EMPI for the passenger side because we changed to a 1.8T front knuckle system so I could install the 2003 GTi 20an front brakes and rotors on my MK IV TDI jetta wagon. I got a Cardone axle from NAPA drivers side which works perfectly and is a large diameter. ![]()
